Benidorm is small, but each area delivers a different trip. Picking the right neighbourhood is half the holiday: looking for nightlife is not the same as looking for silence, and travelling with children is not the same as travelling as a couple. This is the honest guide, area by area, with our hotel recommendation in each case.

Centre and old town: everything on foot

The triangle between Levante beach, Poniente beach and the old town is the most complete Benidorm: tapas lanes, the Castle viewpoint over the sea, shops, the market and both urban beaches within walking distance. It is the area we recommend for couples' getaways and first-time visitors, because it takes the car out of the equation.

Our main recommendation sits right here: Hotel Primavera Park (Calle Primavera, 4, next to the Town Hall). The reasons are checkable: a renovated 4-star superior, a 9.0 out of 10 on Booking with more than 3,500 reviews and, above all, the Selvático Rooftop, an infinity-pool rooftop above the skyline that on its own justifies the stay. We break it down in the complete hotel guide and in our article about its rooftop.

Levante beach: sunrises and atmosphere

The famous one: two kilometres of sand facing the sunrise, a seafront promenade full of cafés and the liveliest atmosphere in town. Staying on the Levante front line means waking up to the sea, but also paying the premium of the most in-demand location and, in season, living with its buzz.

A nuance many guides skip: from the centre (where Primavera Park is) to Levante's sand is only a few minutes on foot, with the bonus of sleeping on a quieter street with the old town behind you.

Poniente beach: the quiet version

West of the old town, Poniente offers an equally long but more relaxed beach, with a modern promenade and a more family, residential profile. It usually beats Levante on value for money and is the favourite of long stays and repeat visitors. If you travel with children or want calm without leaving the centre, this is your area.

Rincón de Loix: big hotels and nightlife

At the far end of Levante, Rincón de Loix concentrates big all-inclusive hotels, the famous "zona guiri" and much of the nightlife. It is practical for groups and for anyone who prioritises entertainment inside or near the hotel. In exchange, it sits further from the old town and from Benidorm's charming side.

Cala de Benidorm and Finestrat: away from the noise

Beyond the urban core, the Cala de Benidorm and the edge of Finestrat offer more intimate coves and newer hotels, with the trade-off of depending on a car or transport for almost everything. Recommended only if the idea is to disconnect from the centre.

The quick rule: first time or couple, centre; family and calm, Poniente; party, Rincón de Loix; coves and a car, the Cala.

Our recommendation, with reasons

For a first trip or a couples' getaway, we pick the centre — and in the centre, the Primavera Park. Not out of courtesy: the reasons are verifiable — 4★ superior category, a location next to the Town Hall within walking distance of everything, a sustained 9.0 on Booking and a rooftop that is, today, one of the city's most valued sunset plans. Price and availability are always checked on the hotel's official website.

It depends on the trip: centre and Levante for atmosphere and everything on foot, Poniente for families and calm, Rincón de Loix for big resorts and nightlife, the Cala for disconnecting with a car.
Is Benidorm only party tourism?+
No. There is an old town full of dining, two big urban beaches, the Serra Gelada next door and a hotel offer increasingly oriented towards rest and design.
How many days do you need?+
A weekend covers the old town, beaches and a good rooftop sunset. With three or four days, add the island, Altea or routes through the Serra Gelada.
